Cary, NC to Boulder, CO via the TransAmerica Trail

I now have a departure date!     May 12, 2015 I will be leaving Cary on my adventure.  Postings will follow.  A slight change to the launch date, which is now Tuesday!  The bike gear is packed and all that is left is to pack my clothes.  Everything is going smoothly but the tornadoes in the mid-west are right across my path.  I leave Tuesday for Asheville for 2 days then meet up with Keith Hanlon in Tellico Plains, TN for the start down the TransAmerica Trail going to Salida, CO where I will get off and take the pavement through Leadville, CO, up to Steamboat Springs then down the back way to Boulder through Estes Park.  Should be fun especially if the snow stops and the temperatures warm up.  The following is the link to my active Spot Map which, once I turn it on on Tuesday, will show where I am and my continual progress.

I am planning on posting when I have internet access which may be spotty with Pictures and some text.  I hope to see you along the way.

It was a very warm afternoon and we moved around to various viewing stands.  Great fun and one of the must do events.

March 15th, 2015 - back from Daytona Beach

It was a great trip with good weather through out!  The trip home took 12 hours due to  tractor trailer wrecks and I stopped to help out a motorcyclist off the road.  He was wandering around on the exit ramp at Charleston, SC looking for something.  Turns out his GoPro popped off his head at 70 mph and shattered into a million pieces.  What he was looking for was the memory chip with all his pictures.  Wow, how to blow a quick $400 plus $50 for the chip.  I wished him well and was off to wait in line with all the trucks.  It was a great time in Daytona Beach.  Tom and I wandered all around and Lucy joined us for two days.  This is the first time i have seen the Daytona 200 motorcycle race.  You get to drive under the stadium and track into the infield to sit in the bleachers around the various turns.  It was warm but manageable.  Great trip.

Had to make revisions to the ferry route!

A riding buddy, Dennis Porterfield, pointed out that there are 3 chain/cable ferries usually approached via gravel roads.  They are hard to...
