Tough start to the day but what an ending!

 Having made the difficult decision to leave the bike in Flagstaff and rent a car due to the 110 degree heat between me and LA, I had to figure out how to make it happen.  U-Haul told me that I could leave the bike there but when I got there they told me that I needed to drain all the fluids!  How would I get the bike there with no gas?  The manager sent me to the Flagstaff Ranch 6 miles away and Jonette helped me.  She was great!  The ranch had a significant number of garage units with secure fencing and cameras.  She was also the owner of Woody Mountain Campground nearby and had cottages that were totally updated from the time it was a Pony Express stop.  The camp looks great on the Web.  Now I had to find a rental car.  

I went to Avis and Budget and they had no cars.  Uber and I became friends today since I had parked the bike.  I finally called Enterprise and they had 2 cars coming in and one was spoken for.  Off I went and got a new Nissan Rogue and I could finally take off.

I decided to take Rt66 to Oatman on my way to Needles.  It was heavily posted no commercial trucks.  What a road up over the mountains, narrow and twisty.

When I got to Oatman I was greeted by the residents.  They run wild all over the small town and in the countryside.  They respond to the cars by walking into the road hoping for a handout!  I really wish I had my Adventure bike for this road.

The heat was impressive. And I watched the thermometer rise to 110 on the dash as I approached Needles.

As I approached Needles, my cousins in LA contacted me that they were under the weather and didn’t think I should come.  Now another change in route!!!  I am off to southern CA to see what is there then I will return to Flagstaff to pickup my bike and drop the car.  It was a challenging morning but a super afternoon!
