Got in a 145 mile ride to Monterey, VA and the daily temps continued to hover in the low 80’s with clear skies. For a poor state I have been surprised at the beautiful roads. Few pot holes or patches and the roadway has been clear of debris, leaving us to worry with our routes. When we got to Monterey the restaurant that we were to find was closed on Mondays. It was a one street town and I had to go to the town hall and ask where to eat. Seems the only restaurant open didn’t have a sign on the road but on the side of the building.
Our evening dinner and members meeting was held from 7 - 8:30 and it ended in the nick of time with a significant thunderstorm bearing down on us. So we loaded the buses and headed back to the lodge for a beverage and to watch the lightning and thunder show.
Walker, Tom and Lucy were fun to explore with and everyone seemed to have a good time. Tomorrow more of the mountain riding and Probably on Wednesday I will take a rest day.
