For our 43rd anniversary we did a picnic at Morrow Mountain. 220 miles and a beautiful day ranging from 67 - 77 degrees. Slight misty rain on the way home.
Lots of hiking trails and picnic tables. There are campsites and cabins. It was the kind of park were you go once just to see what you need to return for on another day.
The park is truly a mountain. I always thought the mountains didn't start until Old Fort but the Uharrie National Park is mountainous. Not big but still gives you a good twisty ride up to the top and the there are the overlooks. Winter damage was significant with trees down everywhere. The ranger said that Ice Storms and high winds had done the damage. Still very stunning scenery.

After lunch we were off to Seagrove and town/village of Potters. Must be at least 50 different pottery studios. All with different styles of work. It was almost too much to grasp. Luckily the bike didn't have enough room in the bags for shopping.
