Preparation has begun for my trip to the west coast. After multiple stops to visit people I will join Rt. 66 in New Mexico and ride most of it to LA. Just short of LA I will turn down to Joshua Tree National Park then into San Diego for a 3-4 day rest to stretch my legs and be tourist. I have flown in and out of San Diego multiple times on business but never got to see it. There is a lot to do there and I hope to walk a lot off the bike and put my feet in the Pacific Ocean.
From SD I am off to see cousins in LA then Las Vegas where I will meetup with an old friend Ray Hunting and we will cover the 2 lane roads up to his home in Spanish Forks, UT. Another 3 days and we will be riding the ridges of UT and catching up on lost time.
I will wander up to Great Falls MT to pick up my wife, Pattie then we are off to ride the Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park. The route will continue on to Portland OR where Pattie will see her college roommate from college days....many rears ago. From there she will fly home and I will start my unplanned route back home that will take me back to Ray's house to pick up all the excess baggage that I left to make room for Pattie then it is daily reviews of weather patterns and hopefully staying out of trouble.
The packing has been in progress with Pattie already packed and ready to load her stuff on the bike. I will carry most of her stuff and she will fly with her helmet and jacket.
The bike is ready! new tires, fresh oil and filter plus all fluids changed. I am ready!
