Ray took Shauna and I on a 100 mile ride up over the mountains to see Park City from above and Sundance. What a beautiful ride up switchbacks that just 3 weeks ago were closed with snow. Shear drop offs very narrow roads and high wings made it very challenging. The average speeds were around 25-35 mph. Got to have an up close and personal meeting with a sizeable deer. But there was little room for parking to take pictures. We came back down from 8000 feet into Heber city and what a beautiful area. The winds really beat us up returning to the house but it was a ride that really showed off the beauty of the area.
We are resting now and going to a comedy club tonight and I will be packing to leave tomorrow morning. Ray and Shauna are going to escort me to the first stop and I will carry on from there. It has been a wonderful visit with someone that was my closest riding buddy back in Raleigh. He has been here 3 years and they have a beautiful home. I will miss them but the fairwell tour of the western US must go on.
I will be leaving a good bit of my travel gear here so there is room for Pattie when I pick her up in Great Falls, MT in 8 days. When I leave her at the airport in Portland, OR then I will pass through here and pick up my stuff heading home to North Carolina.
The heat has been a problem throughout this trip and it looks to be changing. The Road to the Sun got 2 ft of snow yesterday and the temperatures that are ahead of me look to be in the 50-80° range for most of it. This could be good but also could be bad.
