Cape Girardeau - July 18th

Another quiet day.  I was expecting rain but decided to chance it and go without rain gear.  It didn’t rain and the temperatures were around 80-84 degrees until I was 10 miles from the hotel and the temperatures jumped to 90 degrees.  I guess that is because we are approaching the Mississippi and the river crossing.  I know the temps will come down as I move into Kentucky tomorrow so I am hoping for a 375 mile day so I can get on home.

Getting around St. Louis or just glancing off it then turning south was an experience with terrible roads and chaotic traffic.  That was about 60 miles then it calmed down assisted by the numerous Highway Patrolmen pulling over speeders in the construction zones.

I am looking forward to an early morning…leaving around 5 am and getting well into Ky.
