My first couple of days will probably be somewhat boring. I will be staying with friends in Asheville and Atlanta. It all started with one of my many rides to Asheville. I grew up there and went to school in Chapel Hill. I have gone to Asheville no less than 500 times over my lifetime so I never use the GPS. I take Rt 64 to Mocksville then get on I40 on up to Asheville. It’s a piece of cake and this time something happened. I am riding along and I notice that I am on I85 South heading to Charlotte. I have no idea how I got there. I was listing to my music and letting the Goldwing find its way. I ended up taking 301 up into Statesville and back onto 40 again. Other than that it was an uneventful ride and I enjoyed seeing a life long friend where there is always an open bedroom. Judy is a lifelong friend. Our families were very close. Judy is a year older than me and her brother was the same age as my brother Bill.
The temperature was in the mid 80 with fairly low dew point. Good day. I did get to have lunch with one of my riding friends from Chapel Hill. Dave met me at Bears Smokehouse on Sweeten Creek Rd. Great ribs and Brisquet sandwich. I will go back. It has a brewery attached to it which is great.
