After the turn to Santa Fe is the part of 66 that I haven’t seen. I got on Rt. 66 east of Albuquerque and stayed on it mostly until Gallup NM. About 260 miles. I rode straight through Albuquerque and they have the timing of lights down to a science. I probably went straight through 15 lights before I had to stop for one. Then I ran into 66 under construction and totally closed so it was back on I40. The rock formations are interesting but not photo quality and it is very much the same for 250 miles. In many areas Rt66 parallels I40 about 50 yards away, with the same scenery, but at 55 mph. Some sections are like riding nc70 through Burlington. Lots of closed motels, restaurants and gas stations. Lots of Indian casinos.
Interesting observation: In Tx posted speeds of 75 and everyone is up around 80-85, Obviously, NM is more laid back with posted speeds of 75 and everyone is going 65 mph. Very few police cars and almost no motorcycles on the road.
